5 AC Milan held defending champions Barcelona at San Siro, keeping Messi waiting for his 50th champions league goal.

AC Milan held Barcelona 0-0 in Champions league first leg quarter final.Alexis Sanchez penalty claim was turned down by the referee and Lionel Messi goal dissalowed for offside. AC Milan clear chances were squandered by Robinho and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The San Siro club playing style proved to be tough for Barcelona as they managed to stop Barcelona from scoring.

During the match, AC Milan has tough task stopping Lionel Messi from scoring a 55th goal this season or 13th in this Champions league campaign and reaching 50 goal mark in UEFA champions league competition, which they accomplished. AC Milan did not only prevent goals but only allowed 3 shots on target from highly rated UEFA champions as they also make 3 shots on target.

AC Milan vs Barcelona in group H and managed to force 2-2 draw and then defeated 3-2 in second matches.  Barcelona vs Inter Milan in San Siro in 2010 ended 3-1 and the second leg 1-0 as Inter Milan progress to final and beat Bayern Munich to lift the title.

Bayern Munich vs Marseille
In another champions league  quarter final game, Bayern Munich beat Marseille by 2-0 and made it tough for Marseille to come back in away second leg. Mario Gomez and Arjen Robben goals mean Marseille have to score 3 goals in Allianz Arena and stopped in form attacking striker at Bayern Munich to qualify to the next round.

0 UEFA Champions League top ten scorers: Mario Gomez and Lionel Messi score hattrick each to go top for 2011-2012 Golden boot award

Lionel Messi and Mario Gomez both scored hattrick on UEFA champions league matches to go top in top goal scorers table and on right track for Golden boot competition.

Lionel Messi scored hat-trick in Barcelona FC 4-0 win over Victoria Plzen while Mario Gomez fired Bayern Munich past Napoli with his hat-trick to hold off Napoli with 3-2 victory. Lionel Messi and Mario Gomez a also leading European league top scorers with 13 and 12 goals respectively.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a brace in Real Madrid 2-0 win against Lyon with impressive free-kick and penalty kick to reach 100 goals in 105 matches at real Madrid.

Alexander Frei is leading the UEFA champions league top scorers with three goals already having scored twice against Manchester United in a suprising 3-3 FC Basel draw with Manchester United. Other top scorers in European league like Lionel Messi, David Villa and Mario Gomez follow with two goals each.

The last season UEFA champions league top scorer,  Lionel Messi scored two goals in UEFA champions match against FC Bate Borisov equal former Barcelona record Laszlo Kubala at 194 goals in Barcelona history as second highest goal scorers for the club after Cesar Rodriguez with 235 goals record. 

Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Didier Drogba are among common names in top ten list but are still out of top ten list but will sure join the list in coming UEFA games. Players like Fernando Torres have show great perfoRmance this season and is a expected to be among the top scorers in UEFA

Messi also reached Gerd Muller's and Jean-Pierre Papin record of being UEFA champions league top scorer for three consecutive years. Messi will be chasing another Gerd Muller record of being UEFA top scorer for four consecutive years. Only nine player managed at least 5 goals. He won the UEFA golden boot and also helped his team win the champions league trophy. Messi once said:
"I like scoring golas and making chances for my teammates. I just do the best for the team. If I see another player is in a better position I will give it to him and if not, I will try to score myself."
But he never plan to be top scorer and just want to enjoy football and said it in his quotes, he was quoted saying:
"I am not thinking about being league top scorer at all..The important thing is that we continue this winning run as we have Real Madrid behind us and we just know they will fight to the end".

Lionel Messi was also the UEFA champions league top scorer for the 2009-2010, he scored 8 goals. He was closely followed by the world most expensive player Cristiano Ronaldo and Ivica Olic, Bayern Munich striker both with 7 goals. Seven player reached at least the 5 goals mark. This season Barcelona was eliminated at semi-final stage by Jose Mourinho's Inter Milan that were all the way to win the cup.

Arsenal have defeated udinese in UEFA champions league play off, thanks to Theo Walcot 4 minute goal. The Gunners have played their first game since announcement of Cesc Fabregas transfer to Barcelona. It was another unimpressive performance by Arsene Wenger's squad after 0-0 draw with Newcastle on premier league first match which was masked by Gervinho receive red card.

0 UEFA: Champion League Draw first and second round 2011-2012

UEFA champion league competition is set to kick off on June 28th as low ranked teams will play first and second round matches.
Champion League First Qualifying Round on June 28 and July 5 2011. First qualifying round has teams ranking at 50-53 positions in UEFA competition.
